In the recent times, there have been large strides in area of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as it seeks the power toprobe the universe and change our humanity in a profound way. It has been growing exponentially for past one decade and has been touching our life in ways which we may not notice. For example, every time we go on google search, some kind of AI being used to show us the best result. Every time we ask serial questions,
natural language processing and speech recognition techniques are deployed. However, the backbone of the AI is the machine learning. We want to make machines learn based on knowledge and make decisions. The decision making improves in an adaptive way as the process reiterates. In last five years, we have seen renaissance in the field of AI and many path breaking innovations have been made. With the Technology – including mobile devices and cloud computing – has fundamentally changed the communication system in an
unpredictable way, shop (e-Commmerce) and interact with our family, friends and colleagues and way we consume news, plan our day. Two decades from now, what will our world look like? At Microsoft, we imagine that artificial intelligence will help us do more with one of our most precious commodities: time. By 2038, personal digital assistants will be trained to anticipate our needs, help manage our schedule, prepare us for meetings, assist as we plan our social lives, reply to and route communications, and drive cars. The humanoid robot serving as a teacher may still be a couple of decades in the future. Beyond our personal lives, AI will enable breakthrough advances in areas like healthcare, agriculture, education and transportation. It’s already happening in impressive ways.AI poses Challenges It is a fact that AI is already here and slowly becoming pervasive. Today’s biggest fear is that once AI becomes ubiquitous; what happens to our economy. How many drivers will we need, when self- driving car make deep inroads with intelligence assistance? How many travel agents still we need, when our cellphone assistant can book a flight for us? How many customer support agent do we need, when we can use machine learning to extract the right answer from thousands of pages of help center content. How many employees do we still need in the back office of a bank, when that process can be
potentially handled by Chatbots? In reality, the demand for certain jobs will decrease, particularly the routine jobs. This question can also be extended to include what would tomorrow’s human teachers do? AI Creates OpportunitiesThough the Artificial intelligence and robotics will massively take over routine and repetitive activities, but humans will remain irreplaceable for situations involving social contact, empathy and exchange. The opportunities in future will come from non-routine creative knowledge work. Incidentally, there are unlimited problems in the current world and it will continue to be so. Therefore, any work that aims to design innovative solutions to solve un predictable problems of the world will come in preeminence. Thefundamental human qualities like effective oral communication and written skills, team work and leadership qualities will therefore become paramount to design innovative solutions for the needs of the digital age society. Further, Artificial Intelligence may help, facilitating collaborative learning and group work. These practices make learning faster and improve social skills. The tomorrow’s teachers will then become designers of these
AI based learning systems , their knowledge will get embodied in them. More and newer fields of knowledge will get discovered. Machine learning and artificial intelligence is one of the most innovative and exciting fields moving into the future. Skills required for tomorrow are very different and it can be an opportunity. The challenge is to acquire new skill sets for digital age are only through the fundamental concepts of Mathematics, creative thinking, probability theory , statistics and most significantly the coding skills.
